Aims:

recording development needs
Objectives:
At
the end of the course delegates will be able to:
·
To engage
the candidate and their Manager in discussion on performance and career
planning
·
To
introduce the theory and practice of learning groups as an aid to personal
awareness
·
To
introduce the practice of developing and using Personal Development Plans
as part of the career development process
Four
Day Course Programme
The
course is divided into two parts with a period of six weeks between each
two-day module.
The
manager accompanies the candidate on day one to establish career
aspirations, career prospects and perceived strengths and weaknesses. This defines the context of the Personal Development Plan (PDP),
gives the candidate a firm base from which to plan their future
development and raises the awareness of the manager of the supporting role
required.
The
remainder of module one concentrates on learning styles, self-knowledge
and the operation of learning groups.
The
six-week period between modules is used by the candidate to further
explore aspects of their performance and learning requirements with some
initial thoughts on PDP content.
Part
two introduces the PDP process and draws on the learning group approach to
produce drafts of PDP’s. The
final version of the PDP is discussed with the course tutor/facilitator.
